audioscrobbler!

Thursday, January 27th, 2005

After using Audioscrobbler for about a month and getting some tracks built up in the system, I have to say I’m really enjoying it.
I actually find myself checking my own page a lot just to see the trends in what I’m listening to. Kinda self-obsessed and weird, maybe, but that’s OK, I guess. One thing […]

Sufjan Stevens - “Woman at the well”

Tuesday, January 18th, 2005

PasteMusic has a great song by Sufjan Stevens entitled “woman at the well” available as a free mp3 download on their site.
Makes me want to get a set of bells to use in my recordings…beautiful acoustic guitar, chiming bell tones and softly breathed lyrics. Lovely.

2004 “best of” lists

Wednesday, January 12th, 2005

I posted this on the front page of chromedecay, but thought I’d also capture it here, too.
No year-end recap would be complete without some top 10 lists, and mine is no exception. The records here were mostly released in 2004 (though not all) and serve more as a way of recording what I was listening […]

resolutions

Monday, January 10th, 2005

I don’t really do New Years resolutions. However, I do have a few things I want to be more on top of this year.
One is updating this blog more often. Given that this is the 4th entry tonight, I’d say I’m doing OK so far. However, that really falls into a more general resolution to […]

2004 in review
Personally, 2004 was a great year for me in many ways. It saw the birth of my daughter, Hannah Elaine, another year of marriage to my wife Sarah, and my son Collin starting kindergarten. I also became more and more involved and active in my church, especially running live sound for both regular […]

essay by Gordon Atkinson aka Reallivepreacher

Wednesday, January 5th, 2005

This is a fantastic essay by Gordon Atkinson (aka Real Live Preacher). I’ve been reading Real Live Preacher for a while now, and it’s one of my favorites. Great writing from a man who holds a number of jobs (pastor, Web developer, writer, etc) and writes about all of it with a wit and sense […]

top tracks of 2005 thus far

Tuesday, January 4th, 2005

A few favorite tracks for 2005 so far (all vaguely centered around hip-hop, though only the Mars ILL tracks are really anything “purist”).
Mat Kearney - girl america (bullet)
Mars ILL - reach, flirt with fame (pirate radio)
Soul-Junk - Ungst Func Slag Collision, Hogging All The Islands

this just in…

“U.S. military crews are launching more than 100 helicopter flights a day from the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln ferrying food, water and medicine to tsunami victims, a task they say is far more satisfactory than the Iraq war that seems only to destroy.”
Reuters article
This is my prayer: God, forgive my cynicism. Help others to […]
