So while munching rather contently on some fake chinese food, I stumbled upon a full page color advertisement for the OUTKAST PLATINUM PARTY,
which was to be hosted by Big Boi of Outkast and sponsored by the reputable Shoe Depot of Southfield. The event was to be held at Sevin The Nightclub (that's the full name) in the lovely yuppiehole of Pontiac.
Now I haven't fully enjoyed the new Outkast album as much as many of my colleauges here at work have, but I've always thought Outkast to be a most enjoyable and forward thinking hip hop outfit...even if their hit song has been co-opted by minivan driving soccer moms nationwide.
Curious, I dialed the number to see if there were any VIP tickets still available for Friday. I knew for a fact I wasn't going to be going, because anyone with a sense of taste will be joining me at the Detroit Luv Bandwidth party where you will be entertained by 9 DJs for $5 all going towards a fantastic cause. (Note: This will be an all punk set for the most part). But I digress.
I called the number and a rather gruff sounding gentleman answered the phone.
Gruff man: Outkast VIP Tickets
Me: Good afternoon. I was wondering how much VIP tickets were for the Outkast party?
Gruff man: $140
Me: Great. And I can pick those up at Shoe Depot?
Gruff man: What?
Me: I can pick those up at Shoe Depot in Southfield?
GM: No you can pick them up at the Ramada Inn in Southfield.
Me: Ahh! The Ramada Inn! Of course! Thanks!
There was no word as to whether or not BigBoi would be performing, or if Andre3000Heyya would be in attendance. But if anyone goes, please let me know. Thanks.
