First off, I get five points added to myself for mixing a Bob Seger song title with a current political event.
With all of the awesome ballyhoo and muss and fuss surrounding Seger today, I found it important to do another posting this afternoon with some other links that are of notable interest.
Bob Mould does it again; tipping me off to a new Phoenix album that’s due soon. I’m rather excited for this as I really enjoyed their first album. If you haven’t checked it out already, you would be well served in doing so.
Hats off to Aileen Gallagher for a well written take on the horrific tragedy that occurred in Spain. It’s amazing how many people have simply glossed over this event simply because it didn’t happen in our own backyard. We could learn a thing or two by the way they have handled these events. Hopefully Black Table will keep the political writing going.
A BIG BIG thank you to everyone who showed up to L.I.T. Although we blew the sound system early on in the night, the decadence was most definitely in full swing and people didn’t come up from the cavern until the sun rose over Woodward and defrosted our windshields. The glass on the bottom of the floor I was told mixed with various bodily fluids and chaos was the rule not the exception later on in the night. There was also rumors of people throwing up all over themselves.
Apparently, someone over at Tiny Company liked my last release on EN, and I have been asked to do a small release for them as well. It will be under the [ ] moniker, and will be a collection of field recordings that I did in the past year. Tiny Company has slowly been putting out some quality releases, and I’m really looking forward to HP’s new release Spring Fling ’75 due out next month. Email me if you want a copy, as I don’t think they have a web presence yet.
Speaking of En, they now have a limited run of mini buttons and you know you want one. You know you do. You need to email their main man and say “hey. I want to be the first one on my block with an En records button”. I passed out several to people of discriminating tastes during L.I.T and they seemed to have their curiosity piqued.
In the ever continuing saga of Detroit/NYC trading people, Blank00 is leaving the comfy confines of Ypsilanti and heading for greener pastures in Greenpoint somewhere. Those who know Lee will be simultaneously happy and sad at this announcement; as I personally thought Lee would be a life long Ypsilantian. Be sure to check his site and if you’re in NYC please extend a warm welcome. And if you’re hiring…he’s looking for a job.
Ten Tunes over on the side left bar is being occupied and replaced. It’s a sorely abused and slightly overlooked side bar on the site, and seeing as few people actually read those things, I’m going to just pick ten items and rate them on a scale to ten on a daily whim.
A hysterical link courtesy of Bluesocks, it’s what happens when scientific process going “boink”.
They’re known for their fantastic records, but the fine folks at Hefty sent me this link in which a sports announcer taes a player to task on the air:
The lovely one known as Esme sends this link my way. Go and sign it. It’s in the best interest of everyone. Here’s hoping this petition works. I find it highly amusing that Texas has the most signatures out of any state.
That's all for now. There will be more later I'm sure.
