Well.
That was most definitely an interesting 48 hours. It appears everyone is badly bruised and sore. But those cuts and scrapes all heal with time, of course.
At Bryan's funeral yesterday...there was some horrible Irish music playing upon our entrance and wondered aloud (I'm sure much to BVL's chagrin) where in hell the Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, Orb, Namlook etc. music was. This wasn't the soundtrack to his life. But then as we were taking our seats "Deep Blue Day" by Brian Eno came over the crackling speaker and I couldn't fight back any more tears.
I think that track will now forever be linked with him in my memory.
That also got me to wondering...what music would I want to be played at my funeral? What songs would I want to remain as imprints on people's minds when I pass off as a reminder that I was there. I started this conversation early in the afternoon with my friend Josh Schnable. But it was also an idea that kept me from falling asleep at the wheel driving home last night. And this the list that I came up with:
"I'm Only Sleeping"- The Beatles
"God Only Knows" - The Beach Boys
"Neither One of Us (Wants to be the first to say goodbye)"- Gladys Knight
"Barely Breaking Even"- Universal Robot Band
"Got To Give It Up"- Marvin Gaye
"Love the Feeling"- Leroy Hutson
and finally during the procession:
"The Rainbow Connection"- The Muppets
There'll be more later. But first I must catch up on more work.
