MOVEMENT 2004 PREVIEW PART B

1. Returning from the dead

2. New essay up at Uber. Respect to Donnie for the opportunity to write something!

So now we come to the part that everyone loves: the afterparties. With so many to choose from you might be thinking "what's the best afterparty for me?"

Well, I don't know the answer to that question, but if I weren't working at the voter registration drive...these are the parties you'd catch me at.

FRIDAY PICS: Ghostly- The Three Fates and CPM/Element Detroit's- Green Light Go! -- It's a toss up between the two no doubt, with CPM bringing in the 7th City tribe for a banging night out of intensity (plus Claude Young!)..but Ghostly is pulling out all the stops this time around. Start off at CPM and make your way over to the Ghostly party for some Matt Dear live action plus the North American debut for Alter Ego.

SATURDAY PICK: YEL 2. The guys at the 'hau are doing it again. Bringing the heat with the return of Speedy J and the N. American debut live PA of Biosphere (*swooooon*), as well as Monolake/Deadbeat collaborating on a live performance. Throw the Untitled DJs in the basement and its easily the most solid party of any that night.

SUNDAY PICKS: Midway through the festival, if you're not checking out Servito DJing, why not mosey on up to the Detroit Artist Market for the closing reception to Liz Copeland and Clark Warner's Sacred and Profane exhibition? Your favorite laptoppers Thinkbox will be appearing in stunted form (meaning without Bill Van Loo or Mark LaLiberte) doing a live performance right before we all shuffle off to MUTEK. With catering by Small Plates (yummy!), how can you go wrong? It's a hop skip and a jump away down Woodward from the festival.

Pick #2 for Sunday goes to LUOMO. Once again the man returns and will do it up nice, sexy and proper. The man responsible for one of my all time favorite house records will not fail you. I promise. Worth every penny of the cover charge at the door.

Traditionally Sundays were always the big nights for the big hitters to throw their parties. Sadly, it's just not the same this year.

MONDAY: Still going? Still got money to pay all of the cover charges at the door? Either get your house music on to Organic's one two punch of Louie Vega and Joe Claussel or check out the madness that will be Run.Stop.Restore...if you've made it this far without stopping, you might as well head on into work tuesday morning a total mess. Do it up!

Speaking of which, postings will be quite infrequent for the next 10 days or so. There will be a few guest posts, but nothing much to speak of. Between everything going on, I'm really not going to have much to say.

Thanks again to everyone!!!!!! for everything!!!
