So I got an advanced copy of Antics today. Holy cow is it ever good. I think they totally one upped their performance. If this is to be their new album (which my source says it is to be), they've really fleshed out their sound sonically, and they're better than ever. It retains the same melancholy and general nihilism that was all over Turn on the Bright Lights, but there's different influences all over this release. However, I'm sure that won't stop many a lazy journalist from pigeonholing it into being another Joy Divison homage. They've definitely been listening to Gentlemen and that's a damn good thing...the world simply doesn't have enough records like that one. Regardless of what this is to be, I'm highly impressed and this will probably shoot to the top of the best of list after a few listens.
I can't decide whether or not I want a Vernors or an Iced Tea.
