WHERE YOU'VE BEEN

It's nearly spring, and you know what that means? Yes, that's right it's time for

(*cue drum roll*)

bla-DOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SELF PROMOTION SEASON IS UNDERWAY!

Yea-uh! It's my most uncomfortable time of the year! When I get insanely busy, then have to account for my absent time here, then get back to the grindstone. So let me just break it down like this:

02 MARCH: DORKWAVE BLOWS DETROIT. One at a time. Yes, that's right Team Dorkwave...fresh off our highly publicized tours of all of the malls in the metro Detroit area...will be DJing at the Garden Bowl, kicking off things for the Motor City blowout music festival. Amongst the guests will be Jimmy Edgar, Samion Twelve Inches and that really awesome Mike dude from the Sights. You can see my artist selections for the showcase, complete with drunken scowl, here, courtesy of the nice folks at Motorcityrocks.

03 MARCH: DORKWAVE CIVIL RIGHTS. Okay not really, but one fifth of the Dorkwave strike force (the politically active faction) will be on hand to witness the unveiling of a new worker's rights campaign at the Livonia Holiday Inn. That particular one fifth of Dorkwave will be on hand to dotingly support his SSCO throughout the evening, even fetching sodas upon request.

04 MARCH: DORKWAVE DOES CHICAGO. Okay not really, but that same one fifth of Dorkwave that freed the workers the night before will be heading to Chicago to celebrate his friend's birthday and to watch Morgan Geist spin records he only wishes he could spin with such technical wizardry.

05 MARCH: DORKWAVE! HANGS OUT WITH COOL GOTH KIDS AND HORRIBLE RAP ACTS. Dorkwave! (with an added "!" for the evening), will be spinning tunes in between acts at the Magic Stick, in between the Add N to X new project and EsQuire, a man whose shtick is about as tired as Dorkwave itself.

06 MARCH: DORKWAVE TAKES A SHIT AND HAS A SMOKE.

10 MARCH: DORKWAVE TAKES ON LEPRECHAUNS: Team Dorkwave (no "!" for this event. the "!" is only when needed or by request for a gentle fiscal charge) will be a part of the Corktown Tavern benefit happening at the Shelter in Detroit. Corktown tavern was the Hall of Justice for the gang, and their secret hideout went up in smoke a few weeks ago. We'll be playing in the back area, affectionately known as "where it all began" to no one, at some point during the evening. Right after hard techno and probably right before booty music..so as to keep the flow of music smooth and continuous. BTW: Those looking to still celebrate the 1 year anniversary of L.I.T. can still do so, but they will be disappointed if they show up to corktown tavern, for our party has been postponed until the place is rebuilt.

12 MARCH: THINKBOX RETURNS: The cast and crew of Thinkbox will be coming out from hiding and making babies to perform live at some big digital event in Ann Arbor. More on that soon.

22 MARCH: FIELD RECORDINGS VOL.2 IS RELEASED: The second edition of my field recordings series will be released on Tiny Quiet, thanks to the good folks at TQ: Oakland. I have Volume 3 already in process, but I'm gonna try and hork it to a label that can do more than 50 copies, I think.

APRIL 21-23: HELP! I'M TALKING AND I CAN'T SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!: The man with a plan Ryan Sult has asked me to participate in a panel he is hosting for the Motor City Music Conference. Zac Johnson, Ryan, and the Ray Krebbs of bloggers Uncle Grambo will all be talking about various things. I have been asked to study up on digital distribution and how to get smaller labels more easily involved in the process. I'll be using sock puppets to act out examples.

There are many other things on the horizon, but if I blew myself any more on this post, I'd have blueballs the size of Star Jones. So I'll leave it at that. For now. Rest assured I haven't been meaning to neglect you, and I hope to modify that situation really soon.

Your humble servant,

-rt
